Ingredients (Topping)
1 cup flour
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 T. fat (Crisco/margerine)
Ingredients (Filling)
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg (beaten)
1 t. baking soda (omit if self-rising flour)
1 cup hot water
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Farenheit
2. Mix flour, brown sugar, and fat in a small bowl to create the topping.
3. Mix corn syrup, molasses, egg, and baking soda (if required) in large bowl.
4. Add hot water and mix.
5. Add 1 cup of the topping mixture and mix.
6. Pour filling into uncooked pie crust, and sprinkle remaining topping across pie.
7. Wrap the exposed crust with aluminum foil to prevent burning while baking.
8. Cook at 425 degrees for 10 minutes, then lower temperature to 375 and cook for 25 more minutes.
